Magar explanation of the research|| मगर अनुसन्धानको स्पष्टीकरण ||
I am doing research on “who is a Magar” and “what is Magar history”. For this, a DNA study is important. For instance, sometimes people say that the Magyar people of Europe are related to the Magar people of Nepal. The most common Magyar DNA, however, is very rare in Nepal. Probably, if there is a connection, it is not very strong. It is, at present, impossible to write a connected history of the Magars of Nepal before the 16th century. Magars do not have written records. A history of the Magars of Palpa can be written, thanks to British sources, to about 200 years before Prithvi Narayan Shah. There may be other records, but they have not been published. I have started a Magar DNA project, beginning with myself and a distant relative of mine. We are both Dishuwa Thapas. Comparing our DNA shows that we are related in the male line, but that it is very distant. Our connection with each other goes back from 27 to 30 generations ago. This means that Dishuwa Thapas, as a group, have existed for approximately 900 to 1000 years. The Dishuwa Thapa DNA haplogroup is D-M174. This is now most common in three places in the world, in the Andaman Islands of the Indian Ocean, in Japan and Tibet. The imperial family of Japan has been shown to belong to the D-M174 haplogroup, but also perhaps as many as 6,000,000 Japanese men. The D-M174 haplogroup had its beginnings in Africa, moved through India and then into Tibet and to Japan. However, things are not as simple as they seem. In fact, things become confusing. The DNA of both myself and my relative, Jas Bahadur Thapa, is mostly Northeast Asian and Siberian. We also have Southeast Asian and South Indian DNA, too. Could it be that my Magar ancestors actually became Magars in Mongolia and then moved south again? I don't know. Much more DNA testing needs to be done. Also, many other types of research. I will need the help of all Magar people to complete my research and, especially, those Magar people who still live in Nepal and who can speak Magar. Please watch other videos for more information and for specific requests for help. Thank you.
